I remember voting (in Kindergarten, we didn't have pre-K in the dark ages) at the same time as the Presidential election. We voted on the actual candidates though--Carter v. Ford. Most of my entire class voted for Ford while I held out for Jimmy Peanut. Woulda been less humiliating if we'd voted for ice cream! But you're right: it's encouraging that we transfer power so calmly every 4 or 8 years, even though nearly 1/2 of us disagree with the outcome every time. Very special kind of place, this.
